The case of the missing husband

We woke up early this morning to about 4 or 5 inches of snow.  It's been an extremely warm winter with only a few days of snow so far and temperatures in the 40's and 50's.  It's felt like spring time most of this winter.  So you can imagine Ben's delight at all of the snow on the ground this morning.  I must admit it was a beautiful winter wonderland.

Ben quickly changed from church clothes into snow shoveling clothes.  Ben usually makes breakfast, but the snow shoveling was going to make us late for church so he asked me to make it while he went outside to shovel. I made breakfast and waited and waited.  I opened the door and called for Ben....no answer.  I quickly threw on some warm clothes to take our pacing dogs outside to go potty.  I had considered just sending them outside knowing Ben would see them and make sure they came back inside afterwards.  I decided to go see what he was doing. As I reached the top of the stairs Ben was no where in sight.  Our walks and driveway had been shoveled, but the neighbors were still untouched.  I listened to see if I could hear the scraping sound of a snow shovel...nope.  All was quiet and still and no sign of Ben anywhere.  I came back in and finished getting ready for church.  I was beginning to wonder if someone kidnapped him.  I know I would.

About the time I was wondering if I was going to have to go to church by myself (I had to go to teach primary) Ben's aunt Katie called with a message from Ben to catch a ride to church with her husband and kids.

I was instantly angry that he left me stranded without a car.  What is that crazy man doing???  Pulling into the parking lot at church I saw Benjamin out shoveling the walks at the church with a big smile on his face.  He whistled at me as I walked in the door.  My anger melted and I just smiled at that handsome man as I hurried into primary.

After church was over and we were walking out to our car I lost my husband again.  This time he had noticed an elderly woman waiting by the door for her ride.  Ben took her arm and walked her out to her car.  Probably a good thing that he helped to her car since it was still kind of icy and she wasn't moving very fast.
